Hi, I’m Gavin Jones.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker, certified nature-informed therapist, and am currently working toward certification as a mental performance coach. My passion is helping people who are burned out, lost, or uncertain reconnect to their “why,” find meaning and purpose, and find their path to their own unique North Star.

For the last six years, I’ve worked in the Counseling & Psychological Services Center at Princeton University. I specialize in working with emerging adults and adults. During my time at Princeton, I’ve gained a lot of experience working with highly competitive and driven individuals: high achievers, doers, makers, and deep thinkers. I’ve seen through firsthand experience how high demands for excellence, achievement, and productivity can sometimes leave people feeling stressed, burdened, burned out, and unsure of their own path. My goal is to help folks find their purpose and meaning, reconnect to their own self-supporting rhythms, and take control of their own story.

I operate from a holistic, relational, and strengths-based perspective. I incorporate evidence-based interventions such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Nature-Informed Therapy. I operate from a multidimensional lens influenced by ecopsychology, Attention Restoration Theory, and Attachment Theory.

My Approach

I work with a variety of presenting concerns, including: performance anxiety, burnout, anxiety & depression, stress management, mental skills training, relationships (with self, others, environment), adjustment & life transitions, and climate/eco-anxiety.

Sometimes nothing may be “wrong,” and folks are just feeling a little lost and unsure of how to move forward in their lives. My approach is also beneficial for those who:

  • need support in setting and meeting their goals

  • want to reconnect to their values and/or purpose

  • want to improve mindfulness and presence in their day-to-day

  • want to engage in sustainable and adaptive behavior change

  • want to identify and improve leadership skills
